What I've been doing

Well in answer to Kate's question (since only those who read hers and mine would be interested I'm answering the question here) My past week was fairly normal. Finn had a few tears for the first time going to school on the monday morning - monday-i-tis I think because as soon as he was in his uniform he was fine and no prob at school. He still likes it and is learning sight words etc which he thinks is cool - esp when he can read 'the', 'can', 'see' etc in the books we read him. The boys had a mufti day on thurs to raise money for the bushfires and I have actually done some scrapbooking for the first time in years (I think it must be over 5yrs!!).
I am trying not to stress about work but those of you who pray please pray I will get work this year at the boys school, it will start soon and I'll get the amount of hours I need.
I am helping at the unifrom shop this year which is fun? well that's not quite the right word but it's something new and I feel like I'm helping out. I need patience for one of the people who I work with.
This week has started by reconnecting with a kindy mum - her first started when Callum did but got moved up a grade and as she was working havent seen each other much but now our youngest are in kindy together hopefully I'll see more of her - I like her.
The big boys swimming carnival was suppose to be today, but it's been postponed till monday due to the rain. Yay such fun!!! At least it's on cleaning day so I get out of doing it!!!
Oh the other big news from last week is that Callum is the junior school boy school captain. Yes very proud. He gets a badge this friday and we have to pin it on him - what do I wear is my question!!!
Fridays are still playgroup day only this year it's just us 3 mums playing together!! FFF - fun filled fridays. This week we are walking, after the badge thing with Cal. So life goes on. Already week 4 of term here so will soon be doing the easter stuff. Looking forward to the Finn's getting back and started to wonder what Lily would like for her birthday!!

New Era

Yes I know most of you won't even realise I've posted because it's been so long you've stopped reading!!! But had to mark the end of an era in the Beaton house.

Finn started school yesterday and so we now have no children at home most of the week!!

Still getting used to the idea and just glad that he has taken to school really well. He said this afternoon when I picked him up that his 2nd day was even better than his first. It helps that his teacher is one of the best kindergarten teachers ever (any year actually).
The photo of him on his first day for those of you who are interested and yes he has lost his first tooth this week as well!!
Yes I did shed a tear, like I did for them all, even though he didn't. Not because he's the last just because it's a watershed moment in each childs life. The next will be leaving home and thankfully that's a way off!!
Should start work in a couple of weeks and that will help with the empty house syndrome but at the moment just enjoying numerous coffees with friends and no children wanting to leave or interrupting!!

There is a season for everything and the season just changed here!!

Dad's 80th

Well the holidays are over and it seems to have passed in a blur of parties, family gatherings and fun.
We had Callum's party on the first wednesday of our holidays (last week of school for public school) at the Don Bosco centre. He had a great time and parties there are soo easy - just feed and water them and let them go. He got lots of money as presents which he thought was great as 2 toy sales started the next day! He brought home a haul!!!
In our 2nd week I picked up my sister from the plane from Alice springs and she and I and the boys headed to Dad's for the week to get ready for his party. Her son (my nephew) and his wife and 3 kids also came so we had a great time getting a few things ready and spending time talking and eating and looking after kids - my big boys were great at looking after the 1yr old. She had them wrapped around her finger!
From thursday the rest of the family started arriving (luckily some were staying off site) and I had a great time ctching up with everyone and spending more than 24hrs with my oldest sister was a treat. (we normally catch up for a day over the Christmas period)
Dad had fun at his party and it went easily - and has given us some fun things to remember.
I've put in a photo of my Dad sitting in the chair we all put in to get him. All the bits move etc to make it easier for him as he ages. Last week of holidays was spent recovering, doing mountians of washing and going to movies and catching up with friends. Ross had most of the week off so the boys did things with him too. We avoided the city due to World Youth Day but had a good time and finished off on Sunday with Callum's birthday proper. Finn is looking forward to his birthday in just under 2weeks and would like it to be tomorrow. His party is at Macca's and Scully's is a rock climbng party - it's a party year!!! Will try and update with photos of those parties if remember to take the camera (we forgot to take it to Cal's !!)

It's all happening now!

It's been a long time since I posted and full of good things.

My 40th birthday was fun and then the party was great. Had a good time and hope others did. I've put a photo of me and the boys in costume on so you can see. It was great so many people came dressed up and hard to work out who some people were till they spoke. God was good to me and was the only day in that week that the sun was shining (while we set up) and there was no rain. Thankyou God.

Lily Dorothy Finn has arrived and that is very exciting. Thankyou God.

Just wish we could visit but am sure the time will pass quickly and K & G & L will be home soon!!!

Now looking forward to holidays again and Callum has his 11th birthday party then my Dad has his 80th so is sure to be a busy time.

Working at the school is going well and am looking forward to having a day off next week when the athletics carnival is on.

Church Ok and life busy with normal things

Scully was in the school production of ' A midsummers nights dream" last week - the two nights before my party and he had fun - not a speaking part but had fun.

Callum's soccer cancelled due to rain and bye this week so a nice break from it.

Finn has one last session of Speech therapy and then all done. He's had needles and school interview etc and is now looking forward to HIS birthday and party!!! Is growing up and can't believe it especially when I think of his birth and Kate and Graeme coming to visit. NOw he's going to school and they are parents - now that makes me feel old!!!

So it's been ages since I posted!

But I feel like that's Ok because unlike other people who's blogs I read I'm not doing anything interesting like having a baby, finding a new job or travelling the world!
Just kidding I know that writting a blog is the last thing on your mind when those things are happening and it's not all about me - who is stuck in an increasingly cold Sydney and looking for something interesting.
The main reason for this post is just to say - the Robin Hood series has turned out to be completely unsatisfactory - how dare they kill off Marion at the end of 2nd series. They are suppose to kill the sheriff and live happily ever after - Scully said in his strongest tone " I don't like that man" when the sheriff killed Carter in same episode and I expected some unbelievable revival on Marion right up till the grave - tell me it was just a dream. Any news of a 3rd series KAte? I blame you of course for telling us about it - kidding here again!
I was so annoyed with the last episode - what is wrong with a happy ever after ending - we all know it's not like that in the real world so at least give it to us on the TV!
Right I've got that off my chest now
Am getting things sorted for my party - waiting on RSVP's - hint hint. Hope that those Stubbings/Finn's who didnt get invite know it's only because you are OS and will have other things on your mind as well!! 1st of June is a great b'day - keep legs crossed till then also it's a sunday this year - for that old rhyme eg 'Mondays Child is etc etc' Sunday's child is best of the lot!!
Sounds like most people will dress up - 60's theme which will be great.
Ross busy and kids back to school today and I back to work. Only 9wks till next hols!!! See told you not much happening. Went to museum in syd yesterday to see the knew dino exhibit etc - was good and nice and quite.

Back to work!

Well today was my first day back at work since June 1997!
I have done some individual day type jobs since then but this is first time is a 'real' job.
Only Casual and part-time - wed and thurs 8.30am - 12.50pm. As a teachers aide at school but is something and has the right hours for now!
Was Ok. Feel it will be great when I'm not the new kid on the block and can just go ahead and do it. Helping kids as individuals and small group with writing etc and also in Maths.
Boys are currently going through their showbags - no we didnt go to the show but Ross had to go and look at something for work and so got them one each - Finn thinks he should have it all! Oh why is there a youngest child!
How are you going Kate. Couldn't believe it when you said you were 30 weeks! Feels like that has flown for me at least. Looking forward to seeing bigger belly photos soon - also make sure that when you know the baby is arriving make sure you take a photo of the biggest you will be - you will forget - there is time between contractions early on and/or before a casear (Can't spell it right now and not going looking)!!

Told you it would stimulate comments.

Thankyou all for your comments. Was as I thought but didnt realise that Wii would be so much more popular. Will now be able to concentrate on getting best deal on a Wii. Will have to see what Ross thinks about it too!!!
