The little things!

Just had a call from the Gloria Jeans in GP to say I had won their free coffee draw of the month - get me 7 free coffees of something. Isn't amazing how the little things in life can give you a boost - felt like I'd won the lottery!
Nice after getting my tooth fixed this morning and making an appt. to get the last of my wisdom teeth out! Others haven't been a prob but thinking about it is never fun.
Boys had a mad Hatters day at school today to raise money for the cancer council. Both wore jester hats.
It's 4 more weeks till the holidays - and then the school year is half way over - wow dosen't time fly.
Our builder dropped in this am - flew back in last night. Plans to start on Monday and of course that's when rain is forecast! Told you. If only the farmers knew what lengths we had to go to to break the drought!

Weekend so far.

Well we all trundled off to see Callum play soccer at home on Sat. 9am game so had to be there at 8.30 and it was cold - the days are beautiful but the nights are cold - especially in our house where the back part has no bricks around it and lots of gaps/holes. I just visit the kitchen to get what we need then get the hell out of there before I get frostbitten! Was glad Cal had a string of 9am games till we actually all had to get up and go to one - at least he now plays near the town centre so we could get a decent coffee. Cal's team won 3 - 0 and he scored the 2nd goal.

Then raced to the vet to get Spike's tail checked and all ok and progressing nicely. If Buffy hasn't stopped beating Diesel up next week am going to give him time alone in the temp container and let the other two live without the fear of persecution!

Had to get stuff ready for kids church in arvo and then watched 'primeval' with big kids - Ross get's scared sometimes! Then got to watch our West wing DVD - hanging out for Ross to have a holiday so we can stay up and watch lots!

Sunday and off to church - kids group easy yay, thankyou God. Then dropped Scully at party and Ross has taken Callum to watsh the footy - panthers v tigers so am catching up on paper reading, emails etc while keeping Finn entertained with dvd's and printed pictures of batman etc.

K and G did you hear that Jackie Kelly is resigning at next election? Not that it matters much to you guys but thought you might like to know.!

Finns painting from preschool for you all too marvel at.

Just sitting here

Just sitting here with a coffee and decided to post some random things after reading Kate's Blog.
Isn't it amazing how when you find something you have been looking for a long time and you thought you had no chance of finding you feel on a real high. In April I found a cross stitch that I had seen months ago and thought I will buy that soon as it was just right for someone very special but of course when I went to buy it it wasn't there and could'nt trace it etc. So even though still don't have it in my hand am elated to have traced it and have it on order.
Am currently working on a crossstich for Trish' little boy Benedict - born in Feb!! Wish I had a digital so I could post photos easier - my phone dosen't do good ones so will have to wait.
Photos of house are in camera awaiting finishing film - see why I would love a digital!
Today is the first morning that is cold! Still brilliant sun etc but was cold overnight and I am nursing a headache, drinking coffee, avoiding cleaning the house and feeling like going back to bed.
Scully has to do a talk for news on thurs about who invented the telephone! Being Scully he wants to dress up as Alexancer Graham Bell so have just got a fake beard and bowler hat from spotlight. Will give him a test run and try to photo him tonight so you can all see.
When you said Finn was nearly 4 it was a shock to me too Kate. I still think he's 3. But your right he'll be 4 in 3months almost!!! Argh. He's almost as old as Scully was when he was born - if you get what I mean. I am sooo old. But not as old as Ross - he's 40 in Sept!
Anyway enough randomness for one day.
Well one more bit - has anyone else read Eragon. I just finished it and read it after seeing the movie (Callum read before seeing movie) and i think it's prob one of the worse dramatisations of a book I've seen - not that the movie wasnt good - just that it had no similarities to the book for about 80% of the the story. Movie was better in some ways
Anyway Playschool now finished so must go
Have a good day

Lizard update!

Spike has settled down a bit. I took her back to the vet on Sat and he put some thick waxy sort of cream on her tail and that helps of course she is still acting strange not moving and has this weird lump on her side but I've got to go back to the vet on sat to get more cream on so she can wait till then! Buffy still bullying Diesel about - think it's getting less but not sure.
As for the rest of the weekend, Callum's team won soccer 1 - 0. Scully went to a b'day party at the Dom Bosco centre (place full of trampolines, basketball courts, indoor soccer, pool tables etc and had a good time. Finn has a cold. Finn has decided (at 3 1/2yrs) that he is going to be a Vet when he grows up!
We went up to visit Ross mum for a belated mothers day lunch on Sunday. After church and before Scully had to go to the party so was a bit of a flying visit. Had to get our car's aircon fixed yesterday - seems strange that we need it in may but some of the days are so warm that it's hot in the car.
Have been getting into our west wing dvd's and went shopping yesterday for several hours in the plaza while car getting fixed - I like shopping sometimes but was sick of it after 4hrs so walked to Bunnings near holden and got ideas about water features/plants etc for when we eventually get the house finished. Looking forward to not doing much next weekend as seemed last weekend was full of getting stuff ready for Sunday then doing it all and then collapsing on sunday night. Half way through this term after this week - roll on holidays.

The Lizards are going bananas!

Now that the dog has gone the lizards have decided that they need some attention. A week or so ago Buffy (remember they already had names when they came to us!) started getting very bad tempered chasing and biting the other lizards. Untill recently Buffy was smaller than Diesel and bigger than Spike. Eventually this ended with Spike having a bit broken/bitten of it's tail and I decided to take them to the vet. Luckily I found a vet versed in reptiles (not common) in stafford St so took them down. We had never known the sex of the reptiles but now we do!! Diesel and Buffy are boys and Spike is a girl and it seems as though Buffy has now reached a size etc that he thinks he should be top lizard and that the girl should be interested in him! So I come home wondering what I am going to do with (up to 20) lizard babies! Then to add to the stress Spike proceeds to remove the dressing the vet had put on her tail and then BIT A 2cm piece OFF HER OWN TAIL!!! So now I'm trying to decide should I take her back - and if I do and she gets another dressing will she chew even more off her tail! We've had them for almost a year and they have always been easy - and they have lived together in harmony for 5 yrs before we got them! Callum said on the way home after finding out the sex that we should call Buffy Boofy now we know it's a boy! I said yes because he was acting like a boof head! Was contemplating making the lizards outside pets once we get the house finished and winter over. ARGHH. Anyone want to get their licence and have a baby bluetongue or 10?

Hopeless tipping last week

Just wanted to acknowledge my hopeless tipping for last week - 0 right!!!
I went from 9000th to 20000th in the overall comp- told you I'm bad at this!
Also just to let Sue know, I will post some new photos soon - just looks the same at the moment with less and less bricks around it. Will hopefully have footings by the end of the week. But the really impressive photos of the room being removed etc won't happen till June when the builder gets back from the holiday.
I have to go to the dentist!!!! I have a hole - the first one since I was a kid. Argh. How did that happen.

Just to make Kate and Graeme jealous!

Just wanted to post about the amazing weather we are having! Just to make K & G jealous! Such beautiful warm days. No rain which, if we weren't having building done, I would be unhappy about but nice to live in this climate!
Callum's team lost soccer on sat - 1 - 0 first game that has really made them play.
I took the older boys to a frog and reptile show on Sat. Was a bit worried about what it might be like but was worth the effort. Lots of animals and a big crocodile etc and so we had fun. Got some new dishes for our lizards (who since Jed has gone are getting some more attention) and a book to check we are doing the right things! Ross videoed them escaping from their cage last night!
Builders here today and bricklayer should come this week (did I say that last week?)
Callum had a great time at camp - as expected.
Waiting for my west wing dvd's too arrive. And just ordered Night at the museum for the boys - my friend Trish has put me onto this great website and need to stop going there!

Callum's off to camp.

Every since Kate posted 'complaining' ;) about everyone not posting I've been wanting to post but had nothing to say!
The house is waiting for the bricklayer to come and do the foundations. Keeping room up till after builder gets back from holiday so no new photos.
Callum went off to camp today with school. Not real camping just conference centre camping. He was fine, looking forward to it. I will miss him but at least am ready for it this year - was a surprise when missed him last year. But already stressing about Scully going next year!!
He's gone to the Vision Valley campsite for those of you in the conference centre scene!
Scully will miss him - he still misses the dog the most out of all of us. He has taken the certificate, photos, story and toy dog as news today. He is such a sensitive soul.
Just realised didn't tell you about Jed going. Boys very upset on way home (very!) the guide dog people gave us a toy guide dog and certificate to thank us for having him. Scully wrote a story about Jed as he was so unhappy that evening. Finn fine, he went to preschool and said goodbye to him then. He misses him but not in same way. I miss him, especially as I now have to clean up the floor after meals instead of having the dog do it! But don't miss the 6am walk or all the hair etc.
At the moment Finn is a pain about most things - feel like I argue everything with him from rise to bedtime! Then he does something lovely like say 'I love you Mum' and ask for a 'huggle' (Finn-ism, hugg-cuddle).
Our piano teacher cancelled on us last week - for good not just a week! Have found a replacement teacher at school who was recommended to us so hope that all goes well. They start next week and will be doing it in school time. Scully at lunch time and Callum in the after noon!
So I guess I did have things to talk about. Know what Kate means about checking blogs and them not changing though so sorry to my regular readers for such gaps!
Love Broadband - get to look at the photos etc that normally don't bother as take too long to load.
Also boys went back to school last thurs and I hurt my back - all Ok now, so I guess things were out of sorts for a while.
Hopefully have some more news soon!
